Hot

It's been pretty hot around here lately, hovering right around 100. Needless to say, this has kept me inside of places doing very little other than trying not to sweat. This past weekend some stuff happened, though. Thebenbowser and now fiance (congratulations) were in town briefly, and so we had some beer and cake as part of an early birthday surprise. Saturday a few of us went down to McCarren pool to sit outside and listen to some bands, including Bloc Party. Arno has a couple of pics from where we were outside, and a random flickr contact has some good ones from inside. McCarren Pool used to be a useful public pool, but is currently only used for concerts (free and not) and movie showings. More on the history of, and battle for, the pool can be found here and here.

The other excitement from saturday was the finding of porn. Angela spotted a big bag of porn set out by the trash up in greenpoint, so naturally, when we headed up to one of the bars up there, the Pencil Factory, Arno picked it up and brought it in with us. We proceeded to pull them out one by one as if it was christmas, and then stacked them up stonehenge-like on the table of the Pencil Factory. One guy came up and asked what was going on, so we gave him one of the tapes. On the way home, Arno and I didn't really know what to do with all of these (there were way too many to keep them all), so we ended up placing a porn under the windshield wiper of every car for about a block. I'm still hoping to find some pictures from this, because someone had to have taken one. Oh, and while we were gifting the porn, a couple came up and asked us what we were doing. We explained, and asked if they'd like some. The guy was more than happy to take one, while the girl looked none too pleased. We think it started an argument further down the block.
